Description:

Chairo Ishimeji (Tea Color, Brown) Ishimeji-Nuri is the term for „lacquer imitating stone surfaces“. Kurama stone. A type of granite quarried in the Mt. Kurama 鞍馬 area north of Kyoto. Light brown in color and of fine quality, it was used for pavements *shiki-ishi 敷石 and as stepping stones *tobi-ishi 飛石, and as shoe-removing stones *kutsunugi-ishi 沓脱石.
